Youth Aquatic Sports

Springboard Dive Team

Springboard diving is classified as an art as well as a sport. The diver must have total body control and good kinesthetic awarenes. Divers compete in one-meter springboard events. Workouts are designed to build endurance, refine proper technique and execution of a dive from start to finish.

Team SwimLA

Available year-round. The program is designed to provide a team environment that fosters growth in competitive swimming by improvement of swimming stroke and technique. Workouts are designed to build endurance, efficient strokes, starts, turns and finishes are part of the team focus.

Artistic Swimming

USA Synchro has changed the name to Artistic Swimming and will no longer be recognized as Synchronized Swimming. Designed to indroduce young swimmers to competitive Artistic Swimming. It's a hybrid form of swimming, dance, gymnastics, consisting of swimmers performing a synchronized routine of elaborate moves in the water, accompanied by music. It demands good water skills, strength, endurance, flexibility, good breathing control when underwater, and precise timing.

Junior Lifeguards

The Junior Lifeguard Program is offered to participants ages 10 through 17. Jr. Lifeguards are introduced to skills which are a basis of Lifeguard Training for the City of Los Angeles. The Training includes Lifeguard Skills, water safety, CPR, First Aid, emergency response, snorkeling, small crafts, volunteerism, Swim Lesson assisting.

The design of this program is driven by the Mission of Aquatics. The training is meant to instill principles and inspire youth to one day seek employment at our pools. The primary objective is teaching Jr. lifeguards the importance of safety in the aquatic environment and the value of teamwork.

The daily physical training and lectures are intended to prepare participants for sponsored competitions and field trips. Jr. Lifeguard participants will receive a uniform, skill completion awards, and participation award.

Water Polo

Water polo is a seven team member (6 field players / 1 goal keeper) water sport that consist of basic fundamental skills: swimming, treading water (egg-beater) and passing (ball skills). Workouts are designed to build endurance, skills set, and team work.

Youth Aquatic Programming

Learn to Surf PlayLA Signature Program

Learn to Surf is a fundamental program for youth to learn basic beach safety by assessing weather conditions, cleaning of equipment, how to paddle, stand and ultimately catching a wave in an open water environment. Transportation can be provided for the participants to get to the beach if needed. All necessary equipment will be provided to participants which include surf boards and wetsuits, a shirt, shorts and rash guard. Program Requirements Age 10-17, Swim 100 yards.
